Ranger Uranium Mine Drainage

Concrete aprons and drains of uranium mine coated with Jaxxon coatings.

The concrete aprons and drains in the unloading areas of the Ranger Uranium Mine in the Northern Territory had been severely damaged after two years of acid attack. The client, Energy Resources of Australia (ERA) Ltd, were looking to re-build these structures and coat them to prolong their lifespan.

With an enhanced chemical resistance formulation, 1545 was chosen as the suitable barrier and was applied in three coats to protect against exposure to the extremely aggressive environment, which included 97% sulphuric acid.

The Epoxy Floor Coating Specialists carried out the application, adding to their impressive track record of service in the mining industry using Jaxxon products.
