TGI Friday's Commercial Kitchen Floor
After two years the sheet vinyl in the kitchen was disintegrating through splits, cracks and peeling sections. These areas can harbour bacterial growth in the hot, wet conditions, so another floor had to found immediately. Keen to avoid a repeat, the manager turned to a seamless, water-resistant, anti-slip resin floor to quickly get the restaurant up and running again.

Design Scope -
- The existing sheet vinyl was deteriorating after two years of service. Major symptoms included cracking (at seams and transitions, including drains), splitting and peeling.
- The hot, wet conditions in commercial kitchens can lead to bacterial growth in failed areas like these. A new floor had to be installed urgently, with a seamless, water-resistant epoxy well suited.
- After the vinyl was removed, it was discovered some sections of leveller underneath had been damaged by moisture. An epoxy leveller was used to re-level the surface in preparation for coating.
- Non-slip floor with an R12 rating was applied as per standard commercial kitchen requirements.
- Commercial kitchens are always demanding, with short shutdowns often the biggest challenge. Work began after close on Sunday night and continued around cure times to minimised downtime.
- The client was extremely happy with the result and has plans for Floorchef to do other outlets.
